Welcome to the NKU Alumni Association
Meet Tom Wiedemann, the new President of the Alumni Board of Directors
Greetings, Fellow Norse –
Earlier this year, former NKU Alumni Board of Directors President, Frank Birkenhauer, passed the gavel to me and now I have the privilege of serving as Alumni Board President for the upcoming year. I’m truly honored to have the opportunity to lead an impressive group of volunteers to advance University objectives and to support our University promise: to put our students first, to lead with excellence and to make a lasting impact.
Making a lasting impact on this University is a primary reason why I decided to join NKU’s alumni board a few years ago. I wanted to give back to the institution that gave so much to me. As a student, the supportive environment, outstanding faculty and challenging curriculum at NKU inspired me to pursue a career in business. Also, I grew up in northern Kentucky and understand the positive impact this University has on the local community and region.
NKU is on the move and there are many great things happening every day. I urge you to take advantage of the number of ways you can stay in touch and contribute to the success of the university:
· Advocate – act as an ambassador sharing NKU news on social media or network with local officials to support state funding initiatives
· Engage your workplace – we host events at local businesses
· Give a gift – every dollar collected has a positive impact on student success
· Attend an event – your presence demonstrates your commitment to our University’s growth
· Volunteer – speak in classes, mentor students, serve on a college alumni council or board of directors
Our next Alumni Awards Celebration is scheduled for February 2017 in conjunction with NKU’s Homecoming. This annual event honors our alumni, faculty/staff and friends for their contributions to the university, their community and society. This is an event you don’t want to miss. You can also nominate individuals for alumni awards by clicking here.
No matter where you work or live, you can stay involved and make a difference in the success of your university. You are a vital part of a network of over 60,000 NKU alumni living all over the globe, working in communities, leading companies, making a difference.
I look forward to another great year at Northern Kentucky University.
